Google Expands AI-Powered Search Generative Experience to Over 120 New Countries

The expansion of Google’s AI-driven Search Generative Experience (SGE) to over 120 new countries and territories marks a significant global rollout. Initially launched in the US and later expanded to India and Japan, SGE is designed to enhance search with generative AI, providing users with a more interactive and informative experience. The inclusion of more languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, and Indonesian, broadens the tool’s accessibility and usefulness for users around the world.

One of the key features introduced is the ability to ask follow-up questions directly from the search results page, streamlining the search process and making it more intuitive for users to delve deeper into specific topics. Additionally, the AI-powered translation tool receives an update that helps users better understand words with multiple meanings in a search phrase, contributing to more accurate translations. This enhancement initially applies to English-to-Spanish translations in the US, with plans to expand to more languages and regions.

The interactive definitions feature, initially launched in August for topics like science, economics, and history, is also expanding to cover new subjects such as coding and health information. This feature enhances the search experience by providing users with detailed and contextually relevant information directly within search results.

Search Labs, the platform where users can test new tools on Google Search, including SGE, is accessible through the Google app on both Android and iOS. While the initial rollout on mobile devices is limited to the Google Chrome desktop, the availability on the Google app is expected to be enabled over the next week.

The ongoing advancements in SGE and related tools reflect Google’s commitment to leveraging AI to enhance the search experience, making information more accessible and interactive for users across the globe. As the technology continues to evolve, it is likely that further refinements and expansions will be introduced to provide users with an even more personalized and efficient search experience.
