Rahul Gandhi to Focus Solely on Wayanad in Upcoming Lok Sabha Elections

In a strategic move for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi has decided to concentrate his electoral efforts exclusively on the Wayanad constituency. The decision marks a departure from his previous dual-contest approach, reflecting a focused commitment to one constituency this time. AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, recognizing the potential drawbacks of national leaders contesting in Kerala, has opted not to contest from the state.

Under the guidance of AICC General Secretary Deep Das Munshi, the election committee has directed 15 sitting MPs to actively engage in their respective constituencies, emphasizing a grassroots involvement. In a notable development, KPCC President K Sudhakaran has decided not to participate in the electoral fray this time. To identify suitable candidates in Kannur and Alappuzha, a dedicated sub-committee has been established.

The Congress-led UDF, which clinched a significant victory in Kerala during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by securing 19 out of 20 seats, witnessed a boost with Rahul Gandhi’s decision to contest from Wayanad. Despite his success in Wayanad, Gandhi faced defeat in his family’s traditional stronghold, Amethi, in Uttar Pradesh.

As the political landscape unfolds, Rahul Gandhi’s strategic move to focus solely on Wayanad sets the stage for an intriguing electoral battle in the southern state.
