In Kerala, another weekend lockdown has begun; no changes to exams have been made.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s two-day complete lockdown began on Saturday as part of ongoing attempts to cut COVID-19’s Test Positivity Rate (TPR) even further. From Monday, the existing weekday relaxations will be in effect again. The decision to lift the lockdown is expected to be made at the Covid review meeting next Tuesday.

Even though there will be a total lockdown on June 26 and 27, the exams scheduled for both days will go ahead as planned.

For the weekend, those working in the essential service sector and health care have been granted exemptions.

Private buses will not be operating on both days. The KSRTC will operate only a limited number of buses.

Temples will be open over the weekend, and daily rituals will be performed. While adhering to the guidelines, devotees in the surrounding areas can have ‘darshan.’ Vehicles, however, will not be permitted due to the total lockdown.

After a one-and-a-half-month closure, places of worship reopened in the state on Thursday.
On Saturday and Sunday, hotels, restaurants, and bakeries are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. During the weekend, only home delivery of food from hotels will be permitted. Food cannot be sold in parcels like it is on weekdays.

Food, grocery, fruits, vegetables, meat, and fish stores can also remain open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Milk stands and toddy shops are also permitted to operate during this time.
Construction workers can work while adhering to Covid standards. The nearby police station should be made aware of the construction activities in advance.

On Monday, banks and financial institutions will reopen. However, triple lockdown will remain in effect in areas with a high TPR.
