Everyone In Kerala will be given Free vaccine; Budget 2021; Finance Minister KN Balagopal

Finance Minister K N Balagopal in the Budget said that everyone in Kerala will be given free vaccine. 1000 crore has been allocated in the budget for vaccinating those above 18 years of age.

A vaccine research centre will be set up in Kerala. A plan for vaccine production and research will be implemented. 10 crore has been earmarked for this purpose.

Isolation wards of 10 beds each will be set up for infectious diseases in all CHC, Taluk, District and General Hospitals and a single cost of Rs.3 crore each will be required for a centre to the cost of Rs.636.5 crore. For this purpose, money was found from the Development Fund of MLAs.

The existing Autoclave Room in all Taluk, District and General Hospitals will be converted into CSSD and `18.75 crores will be set apart for the construction of 25 CSSDs this year.

Rs 50 crore for setting up isolation blocks in Medical Colleges, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram

It increases the bed capacity in pediatric ICU. Rs 25 crore as an initial step for the construction of paediatric ICU wards in district hospitals with the availability of space and selected general hospitals and medical colleges.

A 150 mT capacity medical oxygen (LMO) plant will be set up. The plant will be accompanied by a tank with a reserve capacity of 1,000 metric tonnes and a tanker facility to deliver oxygen for emergency purposes. The plants will be set up as a joint venture with private companies. A sum of Rs.25 lakh has been earmarked for preparing a detailed project report and initial expenses for the project.

50 lakh sussed to conduct a feasibility study to start an institution modelled on Centre for Disease Control in the US.

Scientific research institutes such as Srichitra Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Virology, VSACC Electronics Regional Test Laboratory, Universities and other research institutions will be utilized for the manufacture of products and equipment related to the ministry. 10 crore for its initial expenses.
