Sharp Spike: Black Pepper Prices Surge by Rs 38 per kg in Three Days

Black pepper prices experience a steep surge, witnessing a Rs 38 per kg rise within the past three days. As of Wednesday, garbled and ungarbled black pepper were priced at Rs 656 and Rs 636 respectively. Analysts attribute this significant price hike to altered weather patterns and insufficient rainfall, adversely affecting production. There are concerns that the widespread destruction of pepper seeds might have consequences for next year’s production. Additionally, reports suggest that the swift price escalation is linked to food manufacturing companies in Northern India accumulating stocks of black pepper.
