Onam 2023: Kerala Government Extends Special Benefits to Employment Guarantee Scheme Workers
The Kerala government has revealed its plan to provide a special Onam allowance to the laborers affiliated with the Ayyankali Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme. This initiative involves a one-time payment of Rs 1,000 for the year 2023. Around 9,993 households that have actively participated for 100 days in employment through this scheme will qualify for this financial assistance.
Similar to this, a comparable stipend has been declared for the laborers associated with the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. This move aims to extend support to various segments of the workforce during the festive period.
Additionally, a noteworthy announcement has been made for the elderly members of the Scheduled Tribes community above the age of 60. A sum of Rs 1,000 will be provided to these individuals as an Onam gift, benefiting a total of 55,781 recipients.
Furthermore, individuals possessing the ‘Antyodaya Anna Yojana’ (AAY) ration card, also known as the yellow ration card, will receive an Onam food kit through authorized ration shops.
