Kerala Government Employee Achieves Remarkable Feat: Conquers World’s Highest Volcano

In an extraordinary accomplishment, Shaikh Hassan Khan, a 36-year-old Kerala government employee, has successfully climbed Ojos del Salado, the world’s highest volcano, standing tall at more than 22,600 feet. Ojos del Salado is not only the highest volcano but also the highest peak in Chile. This achievement marks the seventh-highest peak conquered by Khan, who hails from Pathanamthitta.

Currently serving as an assistant section officer in the finance department at the Kerala secretariat, Khan expressed his commitment to spreading awareness about climate change through his unique mountaineering endeavors. To emphasize this message, he inscribed the slogan “Climate Change is Real” on his chest, showcasing it at the summit of Ojos del Salado.

Ojos del Salado, situated at an elevation of 22,615 feet, is recognized as the world’s highest volcano. Khan’s recent accomplishment follows his successful ascent of Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America, earlier in the month. In December, he scaled Mount Vinson, the highest peak in Antarctica. Khan’s mountaineering feats also include reaching the summits of Mount Everest (Asia), Mount Denali (North America), Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa), and Mount Elbrus (Europe).

Shaikh Hassan Khan’s dedication to mountaineering and his mission to raise awareness about climate change showcase a remarkable blend of passion and purpose, earning admiration both locally and globally.
