After his friends steal his cellphone, a sixth-grade boy commits suicide.

Vizhinjam: A class 6 boy committed suicide after becoming irritated by his friends’ playful teasing. The boy hanged himself inside his home after his friends stole the phone he received from school to use for online classes.

Adithyan (12), son of Mudupara colony residents Manoj and Niji, has been identified as the deceased. When his mother left the house on Monday evening, he made the decision to end his life.

Adithyan received a mobile phone from Venganoor Govt. Model Higher Secondary School two weeks ago in exchange for attending online classes. Some other children snatched the phone from him while he was playing on it. He went into his room and shut the door, dissatisfied.

Friends alerted his neighbours after noticing his absence for an extended period of time. They later rushed to Adithyan’s house and forced open the door. Adithayan was leaning against the window.
Despite being rushed to the Vizhinjam community health centre, doctors declared him dead.

His body has been transferred to the mortuary at the medical college. Vizhinjam police have opened an investigation.
Adithayn has two younger brothers, Aswin and Ananya.

Adithyan’s family is building a new house close to the Venganoor Neelakesi temple. When his mother left for the construction site with tea and snacks for the workers, the boy committed suicide.

Adithyan was playing with his siblings as his mother Niji left the house. During that time, his father went fishing.
