Aadhaar Card Update: Is it possible to update Aadhaar details twice? Here’s how to find out

New Delhi:  As we go through life changes, such as moving residences or changing the spellings of our names, we must document everything on paper, including our ID cards. One such important ID card is the Aadhaar card, which is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India, or UIDAI. The 12-digit number has become an important part of every Indian’s identity, and getting all of the information on the Aadhaar card correct is critical. The UIDAI allows you a limited number of times to change your name, address, and date of birth, among other things.

According to UIDAI regulations, you can only change your name on your Aadhaar card twice. The UIDAI announced this in an office memorandum.

The birth date is something that is rarely changed. You cannot change your date of birth the same way you can change your name. You can only change your date of birth on Aadhaar if a mistake was made during data entry on your Aadhaar card while you were being registered. As a result, you can only change your Aadhaar card’s date of birth once.

It is worth noting in this regard that a change of date of birth is permitted within a three-year range of the date of birth submitted during Aadhaar enrolment. A primary document containing your birth date must also be submitted. ” The resident’s date of birth is considered “Verified” if he or she presents documentary proof of his or her date of birth. A resident’s date of birth is considered “Declared” if they declare it without any documentary support, according to the Aadhaar website. Those who have already been confirmed will be unable to update their Aadhaar birth date.

Address and Gender on Aadhaar

According to UIDAI, you can only change your address and gender once.

What documentation would you require?

If you want to change your name, you will need to provide proof of identities (POI) credentials such as a voter ID card, passport, or driver’s license. You’ll need proof of address documentation (POA), such as a bank statement or passbook, a Ration Card, and a water bill, if you want to change your address. However, no documentation will be required in the event of a gender transition. To change your date of birth, you must submit your birth certificate, passport, PAN card mark sheet from a university, and other documents to the authorities.

To update your Aadhaar Card information online, you must first link your phone number to the website. If the phone number is linked, you can begin the process by going to https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/ssup/. According to the UIDAI website, “the Self-Service online mode allows address update to residents where the resident can immediately put the change request on the portal.”

Then, on the next screen, select the ‘Update Demographics Data’ option and then the appropriate settings. During this stage, you can choose which Aadhaar card details you want to change. When you’re finished, click the ‘Proceed’ button. The necessary changes must be made on this page. You can change your name, email address, address gender, and other details during this process. After you’ve entered all of the required information, click the ‘continue’ button. To proceed, you must upload a soft copy of a supported Proof of Address (POA) document on the following page. After that, click the submit button, and the changes will be applied after some time.
