Nurses in Thrissur District Initiate Strike Today

Thrissur: Starting today, a strike will be undertaken by all UNA employees, including nurses, across Thrissur district. The reason behind this protest is the lack of action taken against Dr. Alok, the proprietor of Kaiparam Nile Hospital, following a nurse’s complaint of assault.

A week ago, UNA engaged in discussions with the district collector. However, as the promised commitments from the collector remain unfulfilled after a week of negotiations, UNA has decided to commence an indefinite strike. Even employees in the emergency department will join in this strike.

The implications of this strike are significant, with over 5000 patients currently receiving treatment in various private hospitals within the district. Hospital administrations are facing uncertainty about how to manage this situation, as the strike could seriously impact the well-being of these patients.
