Google Expands Pixel’s Car Crash Detection to India: Enabling Safety Features for Pixel Users

Google has expanded its Car Crash Detection feature, previously available in select regions, to several new countries, including India. The feature, which first launched on Pixel phones in the US in 2019, is now supported in India, Austria, Belgium, Portugal, and Switzerland. To enable Car Crash Detection on Pixel devices (Pixel 4a and later), users can access the Personal Safety app, navigate to Features, and activate the “Car crash detection” option. The feature automatically detects severe car accidents, alerts emergency services, and shares the user’s location in the event of a crash. However, it’s important to note that the feature may not detect all types of accidents and requires a stable mobile network connection for successful emergency service alerts. Additionally, high-impact activities, such as roller coaster rides, might trigger the detection feature unintentionally.

Google’s latest Pixel phones, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, were recently launched, featuring the company’s newest Tensor G3 chip and various AI-backed features and camera improvements. The Pixel 8 is priced at Rs. 75,999 in India, available in a single 128GB storage model, while the Pixel 8 Pro is priced at Rs. 1,06,999 for the same storage size.
