Energetic Conclusion of Puthuppally Bypoll Campaign: Crane, Fireworks, and Red Balloons

The public campaigning for the Puthuppally bypoll concluded with a vibrant display of enthusiasm, featuring drum-led “Kalashakottu” rallies, fireworks by Congress supporters, and the release of red hydrogen balloons by LDF workers. Major political parties organized extensive campaigns, including rallies, road shows, motorbike processions, and door-to-door outreach efforts to connect with voters. Pampady saw a surge of party activists in the final stages of campaigning, as the bypoll on September 5 approached, with prominent leaders from various parties making appearances in the constituency.

Notably, the BJP candidate and party leaders used a crane to create a spectacle for their supporters, while Congress workers celebrated with fireworks, and LDF supporters showcased red hydrogen balloons. The police designated specific areas for each political party to conduct their “Kalashakottu” activities. According to reports, the Kottayam-Kumily national highway to Pampady Kalachanda Junction and the bus depot from Pampady gram panchayat office were allocated to CPM and Congress, respectively. Aam Aadmi Party activists conducted their processions and events in the area from the panchayat office to Taluk Hospital, and BJP workers were seen in the space stretching from Taluk Hospital to Alampally.

In the upcoming byelection, candidates from three major parties, namely Chandy Oommen (INC), Jaick C Thomas (CPM), and Ligin Lal (BJP), as well as the Aam Aadmi Party and three independent candidates, will be competing. The vote count is scheduled for September 8.
