Kerala Youth Congress Elects Rahul Mamkootathil as State President in Landslide Victory

Following a highly contested organizational election, Rahul Mamkootathil has emerged triumphant, securing the coveted position of state president of the Youth Congress. Rahul’s remarkable victory was marked by the support of 2,21,986 votes, positioning him as a key leader within the Youth Congress.

In a closely watched race, Abin Varkey secured the second position with 1,68,588 votes, reflecting the intense competition for leadership roles within the organization. The overall voter turnout in the organizational election was substantial, totaling 7,29,626 votes. However, a notable portion of these votes, amounting to 2,16,462, was deemed invalid.

Rahul Mamkootathil, who currently holds the position of Youth General Secretary and is a member of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), expressed his joy and gratitude upon learning of the election results. In a statement, he thanked all Youth Congress workers for their support and dedication throughout the election process.

One aspect that weighed on Rahul’s mind during this moment of victory was the absence of Oommen Chandy, a senior Congress leader, who was not present to witness the outcome. Rahul acknowledged that the day would have been even more joyous if Chandy had been there. Chandy, a seasoned politician, has been a prominent figure within the Congress party.

In addition to Rahul Mamkootathil’s presidency, the election also determined the appointment of vice presidents, with Abin Varkey and Aritha Babu among the ten individuals selected for these roles. Notably, the KC Venugopal group had initially announced its candidate but later withdrew, extending support to Abin Varkey during the course of the election. The results signal a significant shift in leadership dynamics within the Youth Congress in Kerala, setting the stage for the organization’s future endeavors under Rahul Mamkootathil’s guidance.
