Kerala gets only Rs 23.95 as tax from domestic LPG cylinders, minister

The state gets only Rs 23.95 as tax from domestic LPG cylinders, informed by Finance Minister K N Balagopal. He also dismissed the discussions across social media that a cylinder fetches more than Rs 300 in the state.

“Only 5 per cent tax is levied on domestic LPG cylinders. The state gets only half of this. The LPG cylinders used for commercial purposes have 18 per cent tax. Half of this amount also goes to Kerala,” he said.

“The making cost of a domestic cylinder is around Rs 600. The remaining amount is decided by the centre and the manufacturing companies.” minister added.
