Kamal Haasan Announces Candidacy in Coimbatore for Upcoming Elections

Renowned actor Kamal Haasan has declared his intention to run for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Coimbatore. He cited the substantial support he has garnered in the region as the basis for this decision, which he revealed during a gathering of the Makkal Needhi Maiam party. The party’s activists had already ramped up their election-related efforts, coordinating various initiatives in Coimbatore under the guidance of the Makkal Needhi Maiam Party.

In the 2021 assembly polls, Kamal Haasan had contested but was defeated by Vanathi Sreenivasan. Nevertheless, party leaders remain optimistic about achieving success in the upcoming elections and have initiated activities aimed at strengthening the party’s position. Makkal Needhi Maiam, founded in 2018 under Kamal Haasan’s leadership, initially faced defeat in its maiden Lok Sabha elections but secured a respectable share of the votes.
