In India, there are 48,698 COVID-19 cases and 1,183 deaths in a day.

According to Union Health Ministry data on Saturday, a single-day increase of 48,698 COVID-19 infections brought India’s case tally to 3,01,83,143, while the weekly positivity rate fell to 2.97 percent.

The death toll has risen to 3,94,493, with 1,183 people succumbing to the viral disease in a single day.

The number of active cases has dropped further to 5,95,565 and now accounts for 1.97 percent of total infections, according to data updated at 8 a.m.

For the 44th consecutive day, recoveries outnumbered daily new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of people who have recovered from the disease to 2,91,93,085. The overall case fatality rate was 1.31 percent.

While the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 96.72%, the weekly case positivity rate has decreased to 2.97%.

The daily positivity rate was 2.79 percent, according to Health Ministry data. It has been less than 5% for 19 days in a row.

According to immunisation data published at 7 a.m., India administered 61.19 lakh vaccine doses in a single day, bringing the total number of jabs given so far under the nationwide immunisation drive to 31.50 crore.

In addition, 17,35,781 COVID-19 tests were performed on Friday, bringing the total number of tests performed in the country to 39,95,68,448.

Last year, India’s COVID-19 tally reached 20 lakh on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.

On May 4 of this year, the country passed the grim milestone of two crore total COVID-19 cases, and three crores on June 23.
