Biden’s Show of Solidarity: Visit to Israel Amid Escalating Israel-Hamas Tensions

President Joe Biden is set to visit Israel this Wednesday, demonstrating unwavering support for the US ally amidst rising concerns that the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict could escalate into a broader regional crisis.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken revealed Biden’s upcoming trip as the humanitarian crisis deepens in the Gaza Strip. Simultaneously, Israel gears up for a potential ground offensive across the 141-square-mile territory to eradicate Hamas militants, held responsible by US and Israeli authorities for the most devastating attack against Jews since the Holocaust.

Biden aims to convey a resolute message of US solidarity with Israel. His administration, led by the Democratic Party, has committed military assistance, dispatching US carriers and aid to the region. Additionally, officials have indicated plans to request over USD 2 billion in extra aid from Congress, earmarked for both Israel and Ukraine, currently battling Russia’s invasion.

Blinken’s announcement came after extensive discussions lasting more than seven hours with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other top Israeli officials.
