UAE Reduces Speed Limit on Al Ittihad Road between Sharjah and Dubai

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in the UAE has announced a reduction in the speed limit on Al Ittihad Road, a major highway connecting Sharjah and Dubai. The revised speed limit will be effective from November 20, with the speed limit decreasing from 100 km/h to 80 km/h.

The new speed limit applies specifically to the stretch of Al Ittihad Road between the Sharjah-Dubai border and Al Garhoud Bridge. This decision, made collaboratively by the RTA and Dubai Police, aims to enhance traffic management and safety on this busy route. The decision is based on a comprehensive study that considered factors such as the number of entrances, recurring accidents, recent developments on the road, and overall area conditions.

To implement the new speed limit, updated traffic signs indicating 80 km/h have been installed, replacing the previous 100 km/h signs along Al Ittihad Road. Additionally, red lines have been marked on the road to highlight specific areas where drivers should reduce their speed, contributing to increased awareness and compliance.

The RTA regularly conducts reviews and makes adjustments to speed limits on major roads in Dubai as part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow and reduce the incidence of road accidents. This proactive approach aligns with the authority’s commitment to ensuring road safety and efficient transportation across the region.
