Kerala Train Services: Schedule Changes, New Stops, and Onam Special Routes Announced

Changes in Kerala train services have been announced, including alterations to schedules, the addition of new stops, and the introduction of an Onam special route to Mumbai. Commencing from August 20th, the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express (16307) will now start its journey from Alappuzha at 3:50 PM, a change from the previous departure time of 2:50 PM. The train’s updated timetable includes stops at Ernakulam at 5:20 PM and Shoranur at 7:47 PM.

The Railway Board has given the green light for biweekly train services between Ernakulam-Velankanni and Tirupati-Kollam. Additionally, an extension has been approved for the Palakkad-Tirunelveli Palaruvi Express, which will now cover Thoothukudi.

The Ernakulam-Velankanni service will operate on Mondays and Saturdays, with the return journey scheduled for Tuesdays and Sundays. This service was previously designated as 06361 and has now been renumbered as 16361. Departing at 12:35 PM, the train will arrive at Velankanni at 5:50 AM the following day. The return journey, now labeled as train number 16362, will leave Velankanni at 6:30 PM and arrive in Ernakulam at 12 noon the next day.

The Tirupati-Kollam biweekly service is set to run on Tuesdays and Fridays from Tirupati, with the return leg on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Departing Tirupati at 2:40 PM, the train will reach Kollam at 6:20 AM the following day, passing through Salem, Palakkad, Thrissur, and Kottayam. The return journey will commence at 10 AM, arriving in Tirupati at 3:20 AM the next day. The exact start date for both services will be announced by the Railways shortly.

In addition, a special train service from Nagercoil to Panvel (06072) via Kottayam and Konkan will be launched during the Onam festival. Departing Nagercoil on September 22, 29, and October 5 at 11:35 AM, the train will reach Panvel at 10:45 PM the following day. The return journey will leave Panvel on September 24, 31, and October 7 at 12:10 AM, arriving in Thiruvananthapuram at 10 AM the next day. Ticket bookings for these trains are already open.

Several new stops have been added to various train routes, enhancing connectivity. These include stops for the Thiruvananthapuram-Mangaluru Malabar Express (16629/16630) at Pattambi, the Kochuveli-Chandigarh Sampark Kranti biweekly express (12217/12218) and the Tirunelveli-Jamnagar biweekly express (19577/19578) at Tirur, the Tirunelveli-Gandhidham weekly Humsafar Express (20923/20924) at Kannur, the Yesvantpur-Kochuveli AC weekly express (22677/22678) at Thiruvalla, the Ernakulam-Hatia-Dharti Aaba AC SF Express (22837/22838) at Aluva, the Chennai Egmore-Guruvayur Express (16127/16128) at Paravur, the Mangalore-Nagercoil Parasuram Express (16649/16650) at Cheruvathur, the Tirunelveli-Palakkad Palaruvi Express (16791/16792) at Thenmala, and the Thiruvananthapuram-Nizamuddin Weekly Express (22653/22654) at Changanassery. The Kochuveli-Lokmanyatilak Garib Rath biweekly train (12202/12201) will also stop at Changanassery.
