India’s First Helicopter Emergency Medical Service to be Launched from Uttarakhand: Scindia

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced a significant development with the introduction of India’s first Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS), set to be initiated in Uttarakhand. The service aims to provide crucial emergency medical airlifts for accident victims within a 150 km radius.

The designated helicopter will be stationed at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Uttarakhand. The primary purpose of the HEMS is to swiftly transport individuals who have met with accidents to medical facilities, ensuring timely and critical healthcare interventions.

Scindia highlighted the ongoing efforts in the assembly and certification of the dedicated helicopter for this emergency medical service. He emphasized the importance of this initiative in enhancing emergency healthcare services, particularly in regions where rapid transportation to medical facilities is challenging.

This groundbreaking HEMS initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to advancing healthcare infrastructure and emergency medical services, addressing the critical need for swift and efficient emergency response systems.
