Police Officer Transferred After Saluting Chief Minister While on Phone

A police officer has been suspended after saluting Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami while he was engrossed in a phone conversation. The incident occurred during the Chief Minister’s visit to flood-affected areas in Kotdwar on August 11th. ASP Shekhar Suyal was captured on video saluting with one hand while holding his phone to his ear with the other, as the Chief Minister disembarked from the helicopter.

Numerous high-ranking officials, including ASP Suyal, were present to welcome the Chief Minister during his visit. The video clip depicting ASP Suyal’s phone call salute quickly spread across social media platforms. In response, senior authorities took action by reassigning ASP Suyal to the Police Training Center in Narendra Nagar. To fill the vacancy, Jai Baluni has been appointed as the new ASP for Kotdwar.
