Consecration Details Revealed: Shyam Varn Idol of Ram Lalla to Grace Ayodhya Temple

The Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Temple Trust has revealed details about the consecration of the Shyam Varn (dark hue) idol of Ram Lalla in the Ayodhya temple. Among the three idols prepared for the consecration, the final decision was made in favor of a 51-inch tall idol carved in Krishna Shila. According to Champat Rai, the General Secretary of the Trust, the idol represents the adoration of a five-year-old boy, the divinity of Lord Vishnu, and the dignity of a king. The stone used for carving the idol is resistant to damage from substances like milk and other anointing materials. While the picture of Ramlalla has not been released, it will be enshrined in the Garbhagriha on the ground floor of the temple complex. Additionally, an idol of Rama and Sita sitting on a golden throne will be placed on the first floor, featuring characters like Lakshmana, Bharata, Shatrughnan, and Hanuman. The temple’s construction will take up to eight months, and the inauguration is scheduled for January 22, to be conducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In another development, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi had previously released an image of Rama with Sita through X. Varanasi priest Lakshmikant Dixit has been designated as the chief priest at the temple. The consecration of the Shyam Varn idol adds significance to the ongoing construction efforts, marking a crucial step towards the completion and inauguration of the Ayodhya temple, a momentous and awaited event for many in India.
