Biden Urges Protection for Gaza Hospital Amid Intensifying Conflict

In the midst of escalating violence in Gaza, hundreds of people are stranded in Al-Shifa hospital, facing dire conditions as heavy fighting surrounds the facility. Doctors Without Borders (MSF) reported inhumane conditions with no electricity or water in the hospital. US President Joe Biden urged Israel to protect the hospital, adding to international pressure on the country. Israel continued its campaign against Hamas, accusing the group of using the hospital for military purposes, a claim denied by Hamas. The conflict has prompted concerns about civilian casualties, with calls for Israel to minimize the impact on non-combatants.

As the conflict persists, the situation inside Al-Shifa hospital worsens, with fuel shortages affecting critical facilities. The hospital director, Abu Salmiya, claimed that despite requesting 8,000 liters of fuel to operate generators, Israeli authorities only provided 300 liters. International aid agencies, including the UN, expressed concerns about the deteriorating humanitarian situation, with the Gaza Strip under near-total siege for over five weeks. The US also conducted strikes in eastern Syria in response to attacks on American forces, raising fears of a broader regional conflict. Meanwhile, protests worldwide and calls for aid parachute drops highlight the global concern for the plight of Palestinians.
