Yellow Alert: Central Meteorological Department Predicts Continued Rain in Kerala
The Central Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Idukki and Malappuram districts in Kerala, indicating the likelihood of continued rain. According to the weather department, heavy rain is anticipated in isolated areas, with a predicted rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm over the next 24 hours. The ongoing rainfall is attributed to a cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep, and the weather forecast suggests the possibility of moderate to heavy rain in Kerala for the next 4-5 days.
The warning includes the potential for thunder, lightning, and strong winds reaching up to 40 kmph in certain areas. Additionally, a high wave alert remains in effect, posing a risk of sea attacks along the Kerala-Tamil Nadu coast. However, fishing activities are not hindered. The state continues to experience rainfall due to the influence of the cyclonic circulation over the Arabian Sea and a low-pressure area extending from Lakshadweep to North Konkan. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions.
