Prime Minister Modi to Inaugurate Kochi Metro’s Phase 1 Culmination at Tripunithura Terminal on March 6

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the culmination of Kochi Metro’s Phase 1 with the opening of the Tripunithura Terminal on March 6. The ceremony, commencing at 9.45 am, will mark the official dedication of the last station of the first phase to the nation. Notably, the Prime Minister will remotely flag off the Metro from Kolkata at 10 am. A significant aspect of the inaugural run will be the first train carrying differently-abled children, departing from Tripunithura station to Aluva.

The public inauguration of the train service from Tripunithura will follow on the same day. Despite the approved ticket price from Aluva to Tripunithura Terminal being Rs 75, an inauguration special offer maintains the fare at Rs 60, providing a discount of Rs 15 until further notice. The event is expected to be attended by people’s representatives and various dignitaries.

As the metro reaches Rajanagari, passengers can marvel at the station’s richly adorned pillars featuring murals depicting Attachamayam, a historical aspect of Tripunithura. The station also boasts a unique Dance Museum, showcasing sculptures of various Kerala dance forms, set to open to the public soon. With a total area of 1.35 lakh square feet, including 40,000 square feet for non-ticket revenue projects, Tripunithura station is a significant addition to Kochi Metro’s Phase 1-B. Noteworthy is the first use of the open web girder Sankeika Vidya in the 60-meter section between SN Junction and Tripunithura stations. The entire Phase 1 covers 28.125 km with 25 stations, incurring a total cost of Rs 448.33 crore for land acquisition and construction. All are cordially invited to witness the inauguration of Tripunithura Terminal Metro Station.
