Anand Mahindra’s ‘Idli on Stick’ post sparks a discussion

Bengaluru: Following the post by business tycoon Anand Mahindra, social media has been flooded with comments about idli, a popular south Indian dish loved by all.

“Bengaluru, India’s innovation capital, can’t stop its creativity from manifesting itself in the most unexpected areas — Idli on a stick — sambar & chutney as dips,” says Anand Mahindra. He has also asked netizens to respond by asking “those in favour, those opposed??”

He shared a photo of three idlis on sticks, presented as ice candy and ready to be dipped in chutney and sambar. The post has gone viral, and Bengalureans are still looking for the location that offers this unique presentation. So far, the post has received over 26,000 likes, 2,276 retweets, and 570 Quote Tweets.

According to one of the responses, “”It’s a crime,” another recent response read. “Poor Idli.” But, if rice and bread can be made in a variety of inventive ways, why can’t idli be modernised and reformed? After all, bread shouldn’t have all the fun. Aside from that, I believe that innovation is the key to growth, and that children will appreciate this.”

As long as it’s tasty, it’ll make its way into our stomach.” “Definitely in favour, a quick bite and saves the water used to wash those spoons.” “But don’t you want to add to the waste with those sticks?” “As a Tamilian, the idli stick will work fine with chutney but not for sambar,” some people say.

“Innovation in cities is always about how to give less and less food for more and more money,” one user observed.

“The idly in round shape is doing well. “Let’s not create more unwanted waste for the authorities and the environment to deal with,” the tweet said.

Netizens also attempted to name the new invention ‘Candydly,’ ‘Idli Pop,’ and ‘idlicles.’
