Kokkayar Landslide: A heartbreaking scene as rescuers recover the bodies of children hugging each other

Thodupuzha: Seven houses were destroyed in the landslide at Kokkayar in Idukki. A total of six people including four children were killed in the landslide.

The bodies of Shaji Chirayil (57), Siyad’s wife Fauzia (28), son Ameen Siyad (10), daughter Amna Siyad (7), Kallupuraikkal Faisal’s sons Afsan Faisal (8) and Ahiyan Faisal (4) were found on Sunday. Fauzia and her children Ameen and Amna were reached Kokkayar to attend a relative’s wedding. Afsan and Ahiyan are Fauzia’s nephews.

The children’s bodies were discovered buried in the ground. The bodies of the two brothers were discovered huddled together at the landslide site. Amna Siyad, Fauzia, and Ameen’s bodies were later discovered.
