Robust Security Measures in Place for Sabarimala Pilgrimage: Drones, CCTVs, and 13,000 Police Personnel Deployed

To ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage experience for devotees visiting the Lord Ayyappa shrine at Sabarimala, a comprehensive security plan has been put in place, announced State Police Chief Shaik Darvesh Saheb. The security measures include the deployment of drones, CCTV cameras, and a force of 13,000 police personnel.

Saheb outlined the security arrangements in a press briefing, detailing the deployment of police personnel in six phases, including special communication teams. Additionally, three temporary police stations have been established, and 76 CCTV cameras, along with drones, have been strategically positioned to enhance security in and around the hill-top shrine throughout the two-month-long pilgrimage season starting on November 17.

As part of the arrangements, 15 counters under the virtual queue system will be available, with the possibility of dedicated counters for the elderly, women, and children if needed. An ‘arm-band scheme’ has also been introduced to ensure the protection of children during the pilgrimage.

The primary objective is to facilitate a smooth, safe, and joyful darshan of Lord Ayyappa for devotees, and Saheb emphasized the commitment to providing necessary support for this purpose. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of adhering to guidelines, such as using vehicles with fastags and avoiding heavily decorated vehicles, as per the directives of the Kerala High Court.

The Travancore Devaswom Board is implementing a parking system that incorporates fastags to streamline the parking facilities for pilgrims.
