Kerala Government Launches Online Redressal System for AI Camera-Related Fines

Starting from September 1, the Kerala government is introducing an online system to address issues related to AI camera-generated fines. This mechanism aims to prevent unjust penalties for traffic violations. Vehicle owners can now register complaints on the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) website, eliminating the need to visit local offices in person.

The MVD has developed software enabling complainants to directly file their complaints through a dedicated link on the website. To do so, they need to input their E-Challan number and receive a one-time password via SMS to their registered phone number. Once this code is provided, the complaint can be submitted. It’s important for the mobile number to be correctly listed in the registration documents to receive the SMS notification.

MVD officials are mandated to address these complaints within a specified timeframe. If a complaint is found valid, the vehicle owner will receive a message indicating their exemption from the penalty. The MVD plans to expand this system for future use, including the removal of vehicle owners’ names from blacklists.
