Illegal crossing; Indians among eight migrants dead in Canada-US border

Canadian police have recovered the bodies of 8 migrants including two families of Indian and Romanian descent from the Canada-US border. As per the reports, both families were trying to enter the US from Canada illegally through the river and drowned and died.

The bodies were found on Friday in a marsh on the riverbank near Akwesasne, a community which straddles Quebec, Ontario and New York state. One other person is still missing. In April 2022, six Indian nationals were rescued from a sinking boat in the St. Regis River, which runs through Akwesasne Mohawk Territory.
