High Court Seeks Police Report on Sabarimala Kalabhabhishekam Controversy

The High Court has directed the Controller and Special Officer (Police) of Sannidhanam to submit a report on the incident involving the Devaswom Board taking the full amount for Kalabhabhishekam at Sabarimala. This comes after Kerala Kaumudi reported that the Devaswom Board collected the entire amount from a journalist despite the standard fee being Rs 12,500. The court intervention follows allegations that the board did not purchase sandalwood from the Forest Department for the ritual. The case will be heard again, and the police report is expected to shed light on the matter.

The controversy surrounding the Devaswom Board’s handling of the Kalabhabhishekam at Sabarimala has intensified. With allegations of overcharging and the failure to procure sandalwood from the Forest Department, the issue has reached the High Court. The board’s clarification, stating that the transaction involved providing sandalwood for the offering, is being questioned. The court’s scrutiny and the upcoming police report will likely determine the course of action and address concerns raised by devotees and the media worker involved in the ritual.

The Devaswom Board’s explanation, the Executive Officer’s report, and the subsequent police report will play a crucial role in determining the accountability and transparency of the board’s actions. The outcome of the court proceedings will be closely monitored, as it has implications for the administration of religious rituals at Sabarimala and the trust of devotees in the Devaswom Board’s practices.
