Actor Devan Appointed as BJP State Vice President in Kerala

Actor Devan has been appointed as the Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Kerala unit, as announced by state President K Surendran. Devan, who previously formed the ‘Navakerala People’s Party,’ merged with the BJP after contesting two elections independently. The announcement of his appointment comes after the merger and his active participation in BJP’s activities in the state. Devan’s political journey includes earlier affiliations with the Congress and the formation of his own party before joining the BJP.

Devan’s entry into active politics began with his formation of the ‘Navakerala People’s Party,’ which later merged with the BJP during the Vijaya Yatra led by K Surendran. Devan, a popular actor in the Malayalam film industry, contested in two elections independently but faced defeat both times. His decision to join the BJP and subsequent appointment as the Vice President of the party’s Kerala unit marks a significant development in his political career. With this move, the BJP aims to strengthen its presence in the state and leverage Devan’s popularity to connect with a broader audience.

The actor-turned-politician expressed his commitment to the BJP and its ideology, highlighting the reasons behind parting ways with the Congress. Devan’s inclusion in the BJP leadership is expected to contribute to the party’s efforts in expanding its influence in Kerala. As the state gears up for future political developments, Devan’s role as the Vice President underscores the BJP’s strategy to diversify its leadership and engage prominent figures from various fields.
