Kerala reports 29,471 new COVID cases on Tuesday

Kerala reports 29,471 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, informed the health department in a press release. The test positivity was recorded as 30.85 per cent. The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-5676, Thiruvananthapuram- 5273, Kottayam-3569, Kollam-2806, Thrissur-1921, Kozhikode-1711, Alappuzha-1559, Malappuram-1349, Pathanamthitta-1322, Idukki-1252, Palakkad-1120, Kannur-1061, Wayanad-512 and Kasaragod-340.

A total of 95,508 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. 4,51,107 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 4,42,162 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 8945 people are in hospitals. 1,418 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday. Among the 2,83,676 active Covid cases reported, only 3.2 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.

Along with 28 new COVID deaths, the health department also reported 205 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. Apart from this, 591 more deaths recorded late due to the delay in obtaining the documents were also added to the list of COVID deaths. With this, the death toll climbed to 59,939 in the state.

Among the new patients, 92 were returned from outside the state. 26,963 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 2184 patients remains unidentified. 232 health workers also tested positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, 46,393 recoveries were also reported in the state. The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram-4555, Kollam-3361, Pathanamthitta-1744, Alappuzha-2182, Kottayam-2697, Idukki-1937, Ernakulam-9692, Thrissur-6993, Palakkad-2673, Malappuram-2417, Kozhikode-4160, Wayanad-1060, Kannur-2081, and Kasaragod-841. 59,79,002 people were recovered from the disease so far.
