Intense Competition Awaits: Kerala State School Sports Meet Begins in Kunnamkulam

The stage is set for the 65th Kerala State School Sports Meet, commencing today in Kunnamkulam. Anticipation is high as the question looms: Will Palakkad district secure their third consecutive victory, or will Malappuram district, emerging as a new sports powerhouse, defy expectations and claim the top spot? The competition is fierce, with other districts vying for supremacy. The meet, taking place in Thrissur after 15 years, kicked off with participants training on the newly laid synthetic track at Kunnamkulam GVHSS.

Starting with the 3,000 meters race for junior girls at 7 AM today, the first day will witness medal winners in 21 events. Over four days, 2,680 students will compete in 98 events. Notably, Kozhikode, Kottayam, and Ernakulam districts pose significant challenges to the dominant Palakkad and Malappuram teams. Ernakulam, which held the title for years until 2019, aims to reclaim its former glory by introducing new talents. Meanwhile, Kottayam and Kozhikode districts are determined to showcase their prowess, having performed admirably in previous meets.

Minister V Sivankutty will inaugurate the event at 3:30 PM on Tuesday, marking the beginning of an exciting and competitive sports extravaganza.
