Another individual in the district has been diagnosed with the Nipah virus, bringing the total number of active cases to four. A 39-year-old patient who was under observation at the hospital received a positive Nipah diagnosis. Meanwhile, the condition of a nine-year-old patient, who is on a ventilator, remains critical. However, the 24-year-old health worker and a 25-year-old individual, Muhammad’s brother-in-law, are in satisfactory condition. Monoclonal antibodies have been procured for treatment.

Body fluids from eleven health workers were sent for testing at the National Institute of Virology in Pune, and all eleven tests yielded negative results. The contact list now includes 950 people, including 287 health workers.

In response to the confirmation of the Nipah cases, a high-level meeting will be convened in Kozhikode, led by government ministers. Ministers Veena George, Muhammad Riyas, A K Saseendran, and Ahmed Devarkovil will participate in the meeting, scheduled for 10 AM.
