The number of covid cases in Delhi rose from 25,000 in the last week of April to 13,000 on Monday and 12,000 today. The positivity rate has dropped to 17.7 today from 36 in the last week of April. This is the lowest positivity rate since April 14th.

But Jain said hospital beds are still in high demand in Delhi. There are more than 20,000 patients in 23,000 covid beds. In the first wave, 9,500 Kovid patients were admitted to hospitals a day. But in the second wave, it rose to 22,000, he said

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said there was no shortage of ICUs or oxygen beds in Delhi at present. Kejriwal was speaking at the opening of the 500-bed building at Guru Tej Bahadur Hospital. Covid cases in Delhi are declining even as the second wave continues.

The lockdown was a success with the cooperation of the people and the number of oxygen beds has increased in recent days. He said there was currently no shortage of oxygen beds and ICUs.

But the health minister warned that he would not be relieved. He said the positivity rate should be below five per cent and the daily cases should be reduced to 3000-4000.
