Private Bus Strike Disrupts Normal Life in Kerala: Operators Protest Against Government Policies

The 24-hour strike initiated by private bus operators has commenced in Kerala, causing disruptions in regular transportation services. This strike is expected to impact normal life, as passengers will have to rely solely on state-run KSRTC buses and private vehicles.

The private stage carriage bus operators had previously announced their intention to strike as a protest against the government’s perceived negligence regarding their demands. Some of the key demands raised by the bus operators include the revision of student concessions in line with the revised bus fares and the withdrawal of the government’s decision to enforce seat belts and the installation of surveillance cameras on private buses. These demands reflect the operators’ concerns about the financial implications and practicality of implementing these measures. As a result, they have opted for this strike action to voice their grievances and seek a resolution from the authorities.
