Air India Halts Flights to Israel Amid Escalating Tensions

In response to the intensifying Israeli counter-offensive against Hamas and the escalating tensions in the region, Air India has made the decision to suspend its flights to Tel Aviv until October 14. This suspension includes both inbound and outbound services. The airline cited the safety of passengers and crew as the primary reason behind this move.

Approximately 18,000 Indian citizens currently reside in Israel, many of whom are employed as caregivers for the elderly. Additionally, Indians are engaged in various sectors such as diamond trade, IT, and construction. A significant number of caregivers in Israel are from the state of Kerala. Tel Aviv, Bersheva, and Ramla have notable Indian populations. Moreover, Israel is home to 85,000 Jews of Indian origin.
