Ban on Set Construction for Prithviraj’s Film ‘Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil’; Stop Memo Issued

The construction of the film set for Prithviraj’s upcoming movie ‘Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil’ has faced a halt following a ban imposed by the municipality. The action was taken against the construction of the set, which involved filling the field with soil illegally. The film set, a replica of the Guruvayur temple, was being constructed in Karattupallikara, 12th ward, owned by Jacob Joy, son of Vettikanakkudy V C Joy.

Approximately 60 artists had been diligently working on the set for about a month, utilizing materials such as plywood, cords, steel square pipes, and polythene sheets. However, the municipal corporation issued a stop memo in response to a complaint stating that the field was being filled with soil illegally.

Municipal Chairman Biju John Jacob clarified that the construction of the set did not have the necessary permissions, leading to the issuance of the stop memo. According to him, since permission was not obtained for the construction, it cannot be allowed in the area.

The film crew has claimed that they had submitted an application seeking permission for the set construction. They have been informed that the matter will be considered during the upcoming council meeting. Meanwhile, V C Joy, the owner of the land, alleged that personal interests of certain councilors led to the issuance of the stop memo. He emphasized that the memo was issued in his name for the construction carried out in his son’s name. The film ‘Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil’ is directed by Vipin Das.
