Air Pollution Worsens in Delhi; Citizens Brace for Prolonged Poor Air Quality

As winter sets in, Delhi and its surrounding areas continue to grapple with deteriorating air quality. The air quality index in Delhi rose to 338 yesterday morning, indicating poor air quality. Despite a brief respite attributed to an increase in wind speed, the ban on construction activities and trucks was lifted, potentially contributing to the ongoing pollution crisis. Schools in Delhi have reopened amid concerns about the health impact on students.

Adding to the environmental concerns, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla placed blame on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the pollution in the Yamuna river. Poonawalla alleged that funds allocated by the central government for Yamuna’s cleanup were diverted for the Kejriwal government’s self-promotion and corruption. With citizens facing the consequences of air pollution, the authorities are under increasing pressure to implement effective measures to combat this annual challenge.
