Thrissur Pooram 2024: Tourist Pavilions, Safety Measures, and Festivities

As Thrissur gears up for the upcoming Pooram festival on April 19, preparations are underway to ensure a safe and vibrant celebration. Here’s a glimpse into the arrangements and attractions for this year’s festivities:

Fireworks Preview: The festival kicks off with a sample vedikkettu (fireworks) display on the night of April 17, setting the stage for the grandeur to follow.

Elephant Caparison Exhibition: The renowned ‘aana chamayam’ exhibition, showcasing the elaborate caparisons of elephants from Thiruvambadi and Paramekkavu Dewaswoms, commences on April 17. Thiruvambadi’s display will be at Kausthubam Hall, while Paramekkavu’s will be at Agrashala Hall.

Tourist Pavilions: To enhance the experience for foreign tourists, a dedicated pavilion has been set up near the southern entrance of Vadakkunnathan Temple. Visitors can witness the iconic ‘kudamattam’ ritual from this pavilion. Passes can be obtained from the district promotion council’s office.

Safety Measures: In a bid to ensure the safety of women and children, pink police spaces will be established at various locations around the festival grounds. These spaces will provide resting areas, breastfeeding rooms, and other facilities.
