President Droupadi Murmu Commends Modi Government’s Achievements in Parliament Address

President Droupadi Murmu, in her inaugural address at the new Parliament building, applauded the Modi government’s accomplishments over the past decade, emphasizing the fulfillment of the centuries-old desire to build the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The president highlighted the completion of long-awaited projects and praised the government’s ability to overcome challenges and focus on building the nation’s future.

Addressing the joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, President Murmu acknowledged the historic achievement of the Ram Mandir construction, evoking enthusiastic support from the treasury benches. She also emphasized the successful removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, stating that initial apprehensions had become history.

President Murmu arrived in a buggy at the Parliament House, accompanied by the ‘sengol,’ delivering her address with a focus on the country’s economic transformation. She highlighted India’s shift from being among the ‘fragile five’ economies to moving in the right direction due to significant reforms undertaken by the government. According to the NITI Aayog, she noted that nearly 25 crore people had risen out of poverty during her government’s 10-year rule.

The president commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the successful passage of the women’s reservation bill and acknowledged improvements in economic indicators, such as a reduced inflation rate within 4 percent. The front rows of the Parliament included prominent figures like Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Union ministers Piyush Goyal and Nitin Gadkari, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, and Sonia Gandhi, Congress’ parliamentary party chief.
