KSRTC Set to Enhance Connectivity with 41 New Kerala-Tamil Nadu Interstate Bus Services

The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is gearing up to introduce 41 new interstate bus services connecting Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Utilizing its fleet of Volvo low-floor buses, KSRTC aims to bolster transportation on routes outlined in the 2019 agreement between Kerala and Tamil Nadu. As per the contract terms, both states have an equal share in operating inter-state services, allowing KSRTC to extend its services to destinations including Coimbatore, Tenkasi, Theni, Cumbum, Udumalaipettai, and Pollachi. Officials, led by chief traffic officers, are working towards the swift commencement of these services.

The expansion includes an AC low-floor bus on the Thrissur-Coimbatore route, while two additional AC low-floor buses will operate from the Ernakulam depot. Furthermore, two superfast buses are set to connect Thrissur and Guruvayur depots to Coimbatore via Kozhinjampara. Additionally, 38 fast passenger buses from various depots will contribute to the interstate services. KSRTC plans to introduce two new services between Chengannur and Tenkasi (via Sengottai), as well as two more services connecting Ernakulam and Coimbatore. Anticipating increased demand, KSRTC will soon launch three additional services to Theni and Kambam, along with a new service to Udumalpet.
