Opposition Demands Kerala CM’s Resignation Amidst SFIO Probe into Daughter’s IT Firm

The Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, faces mounting pressure from the Opposition, with both Congress and BJP demanding his resignation. The allegations center around an investigation by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) into the now-defunct IT company of Vijayan’s daughter, T Veena. The Opposition, dismissing claims of a politically motivated move, asserts that the probe reveals potential financial irregularities, accusing the Chief Minister of avoiding discussions on the matter in the state assembly. While the CPI(M) contends that the case is driven by political motives, the Opposition’s call for an adjournment motion underscores the intensity of the situation, with accusations of impropriety affecting the political landscape in Kerala.

In response to the mounting pressure, CPI(M) State Secretary M V Govindan argued that the allegations against Vijayan were politically motivated, pointing to connections between the complainant and the BJP. Meanwhile, BJP State President K Surendran insists that the Chief Minister should resign, alleging that the investigation reveals financial transactions aimed at influencing the government. The unfolding political drama has left the state assembly in turmoil, as the Opposition presses for accountability and transparency in the face of the SFIO probe.
