CPM Gears Up for LS Polls 2024 in Kerala, Set to Announce Candidates Soon

As the Left Democratic Front (LDF) allies finalize seat-sharing agreements for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Kerala, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) or CPM is now focused on selecting its candidates for the state. In a recent state secretariat meeting, the party leadership emphasized the importance of securing victories for all its candidates. A state council meeting is scheduled for Sunday to discuss decisions made by the party central committee, including an evaluation report on the state’s political climate and the party’s preparedness for the polls.

CPM is gearing up to contest in 15 constituencies in the state, and unofficial discussions on potential candidates have already commenced. The party is considering announcing its chosen candidates soon after the official election notification is released. The LDF, the ruling front, has confirmed that CPM will contest 15 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala, while its ally CPI will fight in four seats. The Kottayam seat has been allocated to Kerala Congress (Mani) (KC(M)), according to LDF convener E P Jayarajan, who highlighted the need for a stronger Left presence in Parliament to uphold democracy and secularism in the country. The Front aims to explain the political significance of the Parliamentary elections to the people and strive to secure victories in all seats in Kerala. With seat-sharing decisions among allies finalized, the focus now shifts to selecting candidates for the polls.
