Prime Minister Inaugurates Extension of Second Vande Bharat Train to Mangaluru

In a significant development, the Southern Railway has extended the second Thiruvananthapuram-Kasargod Vande Bharat train (20631) to Mangaluru. The inauguration of this extended service will take place online today at 9.15 am, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi officiating the event. Following the inauguration, a service from Mangaluru to Kasargod will be initiated, and regular operations in both directions are scheduled to commence from tomorrow.

The Mangaluru-bound service will kick off at 6.15 am, reaching Kasaragod at 6.57 am, with timings at other stations remaining unchanged. The return journey, represented by Vande Bharat train (20632), departs from Thiruvananthapuram at 4.05 pm, arriving in Mangalore at 12.40 am. The train then proceeds to Kasaragod, reaching at 11.45 pm (formerly 11.48 am), before starting its journey back to Mangaluru at 11.48 pm. Notably, the maintenance of the train rakes will now be carried out in Mangalore.

Thiruvananthapuram Railway Divisional Manager, Manish Tapyal, highlighted during a press conference that the extension of Vande Bharat to Mangaluru aims to provide enhanced travel facilities. He mentioned a growing demand for more Vande Bharat trains, reflecting the positive response and utility of this service among the public. With these developments, the rail connectivity between Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru is set to witness increased efficiency and accessibility.
