Several Birds and Animals Killed in Fire at Thiruvananthapuram Pet Shop

A devastating fire broke out early Sunday morning at a pet shop in Neeramankuzhy, Thiruvananthapuram, resulting in the death of around 100 birds, several rabbits, and a few fish. The fire, which caused extensive damage, was brought under control by the fire brigade.

The incident was reported when family members of the building owner, who reside near the shop, experienced breathlessness due to the smoke. They promptly alerted both the fire brigade and the pet shop owner, a man named Shibin.

Shibin reported that along with the loss of numerous animals, various accessories for nurturing pets were also destroyed. He estimated his total loss to be over Rs 2.5 lakh. Shibin expressed his suspicions of foul play and has filed a complaint with the police at Maranalloor.

In response, the police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation based on Shibin’s complaint.
