Tremors Hit Palakkad and Thrissur for Second Consecutive Day

Mild earthquakes struck parts of Palakkad and Thrissur early Sunday morning, around 3:56 AM. Residents in areas such as Kunnamkulam and Choondal reported that the tremors lasted only a few seconds. This follows similar mild tremors experienced the previous day.

On Saturday, a magnitude 3.0 earthquake was recorded on the Richter scale, affecting regions including Kunnamkulam, Chavakkad, Guruvayur, Kechery, Kottol, Kadavallur, Akkikkavu, Kadangode, and Erumapetty. Locals described a brief but intense vibration accompanied by a loud noise, causing some to flee their homes in panic. Fortunately, no damage has been reported.

In Palakkad, areas like Velur, Mundur, and Thirumittakode also experienced tremors yesterday, with a similar loud noise. The earthquake lasted approximately three seconds, with no adverse incidents reported.

Officials from the state Geology Department and other authorities have visited the affected sites to investigate further.
