VT Balram and 5 Congress leaders charged with hotel dining

Palakkad: Police in Palakkad registered a case on Monday against former MLA V T Balram and five other Congress leaders for allegedly abusing a minor.

On Sunday, a video surfaced on social media showing Congress MP Ramya Haridas, Balram, and other leaders eating lunch at a hotel in Palakkad, in violation of lockdown restrictions. Sanoob, a Palakkad native, shot the video.

The video shows enraged Congress workers approaching the cameraperson.

Around 2 p.m. on Sunday, the Congress leaders arrived at a hotel in Chandra Nagar for lunch. In places where complete lockdown is imposed, dining at hotels is restricted.

Meanwhile, Ramya Haridas, a member of Parliament, dismissed the allegations. She explained that the images were taken while they waited for the parcel. She also claimed that the youth assaulted her, resulting in a scuffle.
