Kannur: KIMS Sreechand Hospital in Kannur has received the necessary approval to conduct liver transplantation procedures, marking a significant development for patients requiring advanced liver care in North Kerala.
The initiative aims to make liver transplantation more accessible and affordable for patients from across the region, particularly those who have had to postpone treatment due to financial difficulties.
Farhan Yasin, Director and CEO of the KIMS Kerala Cluster, said that he had personally witnessed the difficulties faced by several patients and families struggling to raise the substantial amount required for liver transplantation. He added that he had previously been able to extend financial assistance to several such patients.
According to Yasin, making liver transplantation available in Kannur at the lowest possible cost has been a long-standing goal. Following sustained efforts over the past two years, the hospital has now secured the required approval to undertake liver transplantation.
“The next objective is to provide patients from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod with high-quality liver transplantation services that are easily accessible and available at the lowest possible cost,” Yasin said.
The availability of liver transplantation services in Kannur is expected to provide renewed hope to patients who have been forced to delay the procedure because of financial constraints.
